Community groups 2020
At Grace City we believe that the Christian life is one best lived in community with others.
Community Groups at Grace City are small groups of people who meet together weekly in people’s houses all around Sydney to study God’s word, pray together and care for one another under the leadership of mature Christians.
“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”
STUDY GOD’S WORD TOGETHER
Community Groups are first and foremost for growing us in Christian maturity. This means we want to have a big emphasis on growing to be more like Christ as we sit under God’s word.
“So that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.”
As Christians we have the amazing privilege of a real relationship with God. Part of this relationship is being able to pray to our Father. Each week at Community Group, we dedicate time to be praying together for each other, our church and the world.
“Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.”
CARE FOR EACH OTHER
Our Community Groups at the first context for pastoral care at church. Our groups are committed to loving each other and growing together. We believe they are the best place to receive, as well as, to give, pastoral care.
“But God has put the body together, giving greater honor to the parts that lacked it, so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.”
1 Corinthians 12:24b-26
HOW TO BE INVOLVED IN COMMUNITY GROUPS:
Community Groups are such an important part of life at Grace City. Therefore we ask everyone to go through ONBOARD before joining a community group. We believe this is the best way we can help people understand what our church believes before they commit to joining us on mission.
